Like most no-kill shelters, we have some animals that need some patience before they can be adopted by a new family. Many animals become ready over time but others just become permanent residents and live at the shelter.  The animals on this page represent both groups; those who will become adoptable after some time working with staff and those who, for various reasons, will live out their lives with us.  The residents need at least yearly veterinary care and also require the same basic items as the adoptable animals.  For a $5 donation, you can feed one animal for a week, $10 for two weeks, $15 for three weeks and a $20 donation will care for a resident for an entire month.  If you would like to sponsor one of our residents, please click on the paypal donate button.  After this, we will add your name to the page as a sponsor for that animal.  Please help us take care of those animals that need just a little more time.

Smokey

Smokey is a precious grey boy whose previous owner had passed away.  Smokey lives with us now and is enjoying spending his days with the other kitties.

Piper

Piper is a 3 year-old male Sheltie that was taken in from a backyard breeder.  Piper has had little contact with humans and is slowly learning to trust people.

Benny

Benny is a 2 year-old male Chihuahua that was scheduled to be euthanized.  He is a sweet little dog but is absolutely terrified of people.  We've not been able to hold him yet but in time we think he'll make someone a very lovable companion.

Old Peaches is 24 years old and is a resident of the shelter.

Savannah

Savannah is a young Aussie mix that is lucky to be alive.  She was one of two puppies that had parvo and was not supposed to live through the night.  She's healthy now but needs work on some food aggression before being adopted.

Punkin

Punkin is an older Poodle that was found wandering the streets of St. Louis.  She was going to be euthanized for space and has been at our shelter ever since.  She is completely blind and very old.

Bunny

Bunny is a 6 year-old female rabbit.  She's a very sweet bunny and litter box trained.  Bunny really enjoys the attention she gets from shelter visitors.

Nefeeko

Nefeeko is an 8 year-old Chihuahua.  He was in a shelter because his owner died and was going to be euthanized because of his age.  He is an absolutely sweet little dog and could be adoptable if the right family were to come along.

Francis Gabe

Francis Gabe is an 8 year-old Shih Tzu.  She was a puppy mill mom and had been bred for 6 years.  She was afraid to walk on the ground and had such a severe eye infection one of her eyes had to be removed.  She's safe with us now.

Carrot

Carrot is a 9 year-old Miniature Pinscher who was also a puppy mill mom that was afraid to walk on the ground.  She will need much more socialization before she can be adopted.

Shane

Shane is a 2 year-old Maltese.  He was a puppy mill dog as well that was apparently abused and has some of the worst fear of humans we've ever seen.  We're hoping he can have a home some day, but it's going to take him some time.

Barbie

Barbie is a 9 year-old Chihuahua who was in a shelter because her owner died.  She was going to be euthanized because of her age.  Barbie has some socialization issues. She shows a preference for women and is aggressive with most men.

Corby

Corby is a 7 year-old Chihuahua who also is aggressive toward men.  He was in a shelter and was going to be euthanized for space.  Corby has made a lot of progress but still needs more time before he can be adopted to a family.

Wiley

Wiley is a 3-year old Aussie.  He was owner surrendered and has a wonderful temperment.  He loves people and seems to enjoy the company of other mild-mannered dogs.  His only real issue is that he is deaf.

Nugget

Nugget is a senior gelding that was unwanted after his owner was divorced and he needs daily pain medicine for his arthritis.

Quarter is a resident at the shelter because of major leg injuries.

Molly

Molly is a paint mare and is resident at the shelter because of a lame navicular.  She can never be ridden and will need medication for the rest of her life.

Bridgette

Bridgette is a 5 year-old King Charles Cavalier that came from a backyard breeder.  She has a wonderful temperment, but needs an expensive surgery on her knee before she can be adopted.

Chaz

Chaz is an older Persian male.  He has a great personality, but he doesn't like to groom his fur and constantly needs to be shaved in order to prevent mats and skin issues.
